Emergency Medicine

Year 1: Introduction to core EM POCUS skills (including CEUS IP core credentialing) as well as didactic introduction to extended application (novice track)

Year 2: General overview of both core and extended applications through Sonic Rounds (adavnced track). Practice scanning done immediately following 20 minute didactic component.

Year 3: trainees undertake a horizontal Resuscitative POCUS rotation

Sonic Rounds are now fully integrated into the EM Academic Half Day (1 session per month)

These sessions are coordinated and delivered by Drs. Mark Taylor and Paul Olszynski.

Novice topics include: Vascular Access, Pleural/Lung Ultrasoound, EFAST, OBS (symptomatic first trimester pregnancy) AAA, Advanced Thoracic: Cardiac, IVC, Lung (revisited), Advanced Abdominal: Gallbladder, Renal, SBO, Advanced small parts: DVT, MSK

Advanced topics include: Pancreas and CBD, advanced pelvic ultrasound (transvaginal), and more.
