What should training and credentialing in point of care ultrasound look like?
It requires four steps:
1. Introduction to concepts and technique (often completed at a course)
2. Supervised apprenticeship (usually dozens of studies for a given indication that are vetted by someone credentialed to do so)
3. Competence assessment (an exam that includes image interpretation and clinical integration)
4. Maintenance of Competence (ongoing, regular use of ultrasound to maintain efficient image generation as well as involvement in a quality assurance program)
