With both the Internal Medicine and Anesthesia programs now having participated in substantial PoCUS training sessions, we’ll be finishing off the academic year by introducing our General Surgery residents to ultrasound in Trauma (May 15th). The Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (EFAST) scan is now considered a major part of trauma assessment, guiding the primary survey in both blunt and penetrating trauma as well as helping prioritize further trauma management and care.
This last session marks the end of a very successful first (academic) year for Sasksonic. That said, we’re always looking for new talent and more instructors! If interested, please send a note to sasksonic@gmail.com.
Highlights for the coming summer months include an IP supervised scanning session (sometime in June) and then the EDE1 and EGLS courses this fall. Check out the calendar (on the right side of the main page or under the Training Tab – CEUS Training Center page).
Cheers,
Paul Olszynski
